Therapist Colorado Springs

Hello! I’m Lucy.

Lucille Schulz, M.Ed., LPCC (She/Her)

EMDR Therapist & Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate

Trauma often robs us of our sense of control – not just over our environment but also our bodies, and of feeling safe in connection with ourselves and others. I believe that healing occurs once we begin to feel safe and connected again – or perhaps for the first time.

Healing gives us back our choice to live in alignment with authenticity rather than reacting or hiding from a place of trauma. As we begin to feel a greater sense of safety in the world, we are able to let in more exploration, play, self-expression, and joy into our lives.

My goal is to create a safe container for healing and transformation to occur. It would be my honor to walk alongside you in your healing journey as we peel back the layers of pain and shame to reveal the light that has been there all along – to reconnect with your authentic self.

When I am not seeing clients, I enjoy hiking, sunset chasing, spending time with my pup – Tchai, meditating, journaling, movement of any kind, and playing my ukulele.

My Approach – EMDR Therapist in Colorado Springs, CO

My therapeutic approach is holistic, client-centered, and attachment-based. Trauma leaves its mark on the mind, body, and spirit. Thus, a holistic approach – one that addresses the multiple
facets that make up a whole person – is necessary for healing trauma. Each person is unique and therefore the way they have experienced, internalized, and coped with their trauma is
unique.

I view trauma through an attachment lens. Trauma is all too often at the hands of another, and sadly it is usually someone we trusted, whether that be a caretaker, family member or significant other. This understandably makes it difficult for survivors to trust people. They keep others at a distance in order to protect themselves from being hurt again while simultaneously craving connection, love, and a sense of belonging.

While relationships may have hurt us in the past, I believe it is through secure and nurturing relationships that we heal. Whatever your experience has been, it is valid, and I want to hear your story. I aim to create a space where you feel safe to share your story and are free to express yourself just as you are. I will meet you with unconditional positive regard, acceptance, and compassion. All of you is welcome here.

My most commonly used modalities include Nervous System Regulation, Somatic-informed, IFS-informed, Guided Imagery, Person-Centered Therapy, CBT, Psychodynamic Strategies, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
