Licensed Therapist in Colorado Springs, CO
Hello! I’m Annika.
Annika Fairbairn, MA, LPC (she/her)
Licensed Therapist & Mental Health Counselor in Colorado Springs, CO
Sometimes life can feel like it takes more energy than you have to give. You may find yourself feeling anxious, overwhelmed, disconnected from yourself, or stuck in patterns that you can understand logically but still struggle to change. Maybe you grew up in an environment where your emotions were dismissed, your needs were minimized, or you learned to survive by staying small, pleasing others, or holding everything together.
Therapy is a space where you do not have to keep carrying all of that alone.
I help clients slow down, listen to what is happening beneath the surface, and begin reconnecting with the parts of themselves that may have been pushed aside in order to cope. My work is grounded in the belief that healing is not only about talking through what happened, but also about helping your mind and body experience safety, connection, and self-compassion in new ways.
I especially enjoy supporting clients who are navigating anxiety, trauma, attachment wounds, emotionally immature, uninvolved, or complex family dynamics, neurodivergence, parenting stress, and the impact of growing up in environments where their needs were not fully seen. I also have extensive experience supporting children, teens, parents, and individuals with ADHD, Autism, developmental differences, and complex family or system involvement. Whether you are hoping to better understand yourself, heal from trauma, strengthen your relationship with your child or family members, or feel more grounded in daily life, I would be honored to walk alongside you.

My Approach – Licensed Therapist in Colorado Springs, CO
My approach to therapy is trauma-informed, attachment-based, somatic, and collaborative. I believe that meaningful healing happens when we make space for the whole person- thoughts, emotions, body sensations, nervous system responses, relationships, identity, and lived experience. Many clients come to therapy knowing they want things to change but feeling unsure how to get there. Together, we will work to better understand the patterns that have helped you survive, while gently building new ways to relate to yourself, others, and the world around you. I integrate mind-body approaches that support nervous system regulation, emotional awareness, and deeper connection to self.
II have a special passion for helping clients understand how early relationships and family patterns may still be shaping their current anxiety, relationships, parenting, or self-worth. For children and teens, I work to support emotional regulation, communication, and connection, while helping parents better understand what may be underneath their child’s behavior.
My most commonly used modalities include: Internal Family Systems-informed Therapy, Somatic Interventions, Polyvagal Theory-informed Strategies, Attachment-Based Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Therapy, Play Therapy, Trauma-Focused Therapy, and Safe and Sound Protocol.
